As a wedding pianist working mostly in the Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and Manchester area, I was delighted to have the chance to return to Overwater Hall. A beautiful, Lake District wedding venue that is a hidden gem for more intimate weddings. The scenery alone will leave you astounded. It is a gorgeous 18th century hotel, with award winning catering, stunning rooms and an attentive and friendly management team. It was lovely to work with Stephen Bore, and Angela and Adrian Hyde. Check out the venue at http://www.overwaterhall.co.uk/
I was contacted online by Polly Barrett who was looking for a modern wedding pianist, able to play a selection of more alternative music, including rock and heavy metal. She particularly loves ‘Everlong’ by the Foo Fighters. My varied musical background and training means that I am able to adapt many musical styles for the piano. I am especially keen to play music from this genre, being a fan of rock music myself.
The Venue – Overwater Hall
I was welcomed to Overwater Hall by Stephen with an offer of help and a lovely cup of tea. My portable, electric, white baby grand piano fitted perfectly in the stylish lounge/welcome area where I was able to play for guest arrival before the ceremony, and throughout the drinks reception. Polly and Chris were married here and then mingled with their guests in the fabulous surroundings with glasses of champagne and lovely cream soda cordial from ‘the re-hydration station.’ They also spent some time in the lovely grounds here with Jono Symonds Photography, working his magic to capture some lovely memories from their day. When chatting to Jono, he mentioned what a delight it was to take photographs at Overwater Hall due to the stunning scenery. The different stylistic elements in each of the rooms also make for really interesting photography. I have added the beautiful photograph that Jono posted on facebook of Polly and Chris.
I would like to congratulate the new Mr and Mrs Walton, thank them for booking me and wish them a long and happy marriage. I am hoping to return to Overwater Hall soon (not just for the lovely sandwiches and cups of tea) but to be able to work in such wonderful surroundings. It was an absolute pleasure, especially with all the staff at the venue being so welcoming, friendly and helpful.
“We saw Liz at Colshaw Hall playing the piano at the end of 2013 at an Open day and thought she played brilliantly so I took some details and later got in touch. We were very impressed by Liz’s repertoire of music and thought her pricing for the hours she was putting into our wedding day was really competitive. Liz always responded straight away when I had any ideas or questions and on the day itself there were no problems; she was punctual, well presented and played beautifully to our guests.”
Why did you book liz for your wedding at Colshaw Hall?
We heard Liz playing at our venue and we like what we saw/heard. When I asked her for pricing she was competitive with other suppliers. She came across as a lovely and reliable person to have there on our wedding day.

“Liz and The Live Piano experience were amazing! She is a very talented lady who played amazingly well. Nothing was too much trouble for her, we had a lot of requests and she had to learn a lot of new songs, all of which she did without any complaint.”
Why did you book Liz for your wedding the Fir Grove?
“We heard her play in a wedding open day and loved her. The hotel also recommended her.”
“The pianist was fantastic to start with Liz explained everything at event city and her website was very helpful. Also Liz was fantastic on the phone explained what type of music would be good . We then supplied a list of music we would like to played and wheb. We then got reply nearly instant explaining that she knew some and that she would learn the rest. The day was perfect because she said she had done a recce of each venue. Everything was in place and the music was perfect everything played.”
Why did you book them?
“Because of the value for money and the way she talked to us and explained everything and the piano was really nive”
“Liz was amazing anything i asked of her nothing was too much trouble. She took my breathe away when she started playing my wedding song to walk down the aisle. During signing the register the songs i picked were acoustic and on her piano they sounded out of this world. All my guests commented on how amazing she was and i think they should win this award again!!”

“Liz added greatly to the enjoyment of our day. She played at the ceremony and the drinks reception. Her choice of music and her playing were superb and many of our guests were impressed, as were we! She judged the mood of the occasion perfectly and her sensitive playing was very moving. We have no hesitation in recommending Liz for this award.”
